Hey Mom Blogging Friends…
Have you jumped on board with Periscope yet?
We are LOVING it and we truly believe it is going to be a social media game changer!
But when a new social platform launches, it can be hard to find your friends and other like minded folks, so we’re using a hashtag and a good old fashioned linky list which we bloggers always love.
Yes, since as bloggers we’re all used to linky lists, we thought it would be an easy way to quickly find and follow all our blogging friends (and make new ones) on this new social platform.
And if you add the hashtag #MomScope to the name of your Periscope video, it will show and be searchable in Twitter. (You need to put in near the beginning of your video title so that it shows in the tweet.)
Featured Mom on Periscope
We want to make sure you’re following the delightful Jessica Turner
Here’s a recent scope from Jessica…
To be featured on this page, add your handle in the linky list below and use the hashtag #MomScope near the beginning of your Scope Title. You can also DM me to give me a heads up.
Periscope Is Different
A difficult challenge with Periscope is that you don’t have a typical “profile page” that you can directly link to and view outside of the app. And another limitation of Periscope is that your videos are only viewable for 24 hours.
But of course, as soon as there’s a challenge online, there is a solution.
Already a site formed called katch.me where you can create an account easily using your Twitter profile and then have a page you can link to with all your videos saved.
You can see a screenshot of my newly created account Katch.me/5minutesformom. Once you create your Katch.me account, it will start saving your videos.
The view numbers shown on Katch are not the view numbers from Periscope, but the numbers of views you’ve had on the Katch.me video replay. (So those numbers will be much lower.)
You can also embed your videos from Katch.me as well.
Here’s an example of one of our videos…
In our linky list below, we thought it would work best to link directly to your Katch.me account. If you do not want to create a Katch.me account, you can just link to your Twitter account. But I highly recommend using Katch.me.
Add Your Katch.me Account to the Linky List
So to add yourself to the linky list below, follow these steps (all are FREE):
- Sign up for Periscope if you haven’t already. (Be sure to use the same handle as Twitter.)
- Sign up for Katch.me using your Twitter Handle.
- Add the link to your Katch.me page to the linky list below.
Then you can browse through the list and click through to people’s Katch.me pages where you can watch some of their videos.
But be sure to also have your Periscope app open and follow them within the app. You have to use the search feature to find and follow them using their Twitter name.
Add your Katch.me link below using your Twitter handle and link to Katch.me page…
(This Twitter handle should also be your Periscope name.)

(And remember to add the hashtag #MomScope to the names of your Periscope video so it shows in Twitter.)
