Kobold Toys — Inside Scoop

Kobold Toys

At Kobold Toys, we carry toys that children can use to explore their imagination and creativity–two of the most important skills any human being can have.

Some of the best toys for imaginative play are, for example, dolls without a name or character associated to it (unlike a TV character doll or an comic action figure). When there are no names or stories associated to the toy, it falls on the child to make up the doll's name, dress it, feed it, teach things to and take care of it.

Another example are books. When children listen to a story, they imagine faces, expressions, emotions and situations. If, instead, they watch a story on TV, there is nothing to imagine about it.
For young kids, we recommend books with lots of images and drawings and less text, so that they can also make up a story as they see an image. We also recommend, for this young age, interactive books, through which children can actively be part of a story. For older kids, who can read, more text and less images will prompt them to illustrate in their minds the stories and characters involved in their book's story.

Blocks and puzzles are great ways for them to practice coordination and brain development. Today, you can find puzzles and blocks with different challenge levels for different ages. Another way to foster creativity is, of course, through crafts and arts.
