Much More Than A Sparrow

My husband told me some months back that there was a nest of eggs in the shop. I planned on taking pictures of it and later try to capture the baby birds spreading their wings to fly out into the great unknown. But alas, in the midst of the business of life I didn’t and had forgotten the nest was even there until that day.

I had gone out to the shop to get the big cooler for the weekend. As I opened the door I noticed something hanging off the bottom corner of the door. I bent down to get a closer look and to my surprise found a baby sparrow not long hatched from its egg. Evidently it had fallen out of the nest and gotten stuck between the door and the floor of the shop. “What should I do?” I thought. I’ve heard you aren’t suppose to touch baby birds because if you do their momma won’t take care of them anymore, but I couldn’t very well leave that little thing there. So, I gently picked him up. He was so cute; pink skin still showing and squawking like crazy. Of course I had to show the kids before I put him back into the nest. After a few minutes of ooh’s and aah’s and a few pictures later I carefully place him back into his nest with his brothers and sisters.

As I walked back to the house the Lord spoke softly to my heart, “dear child, I care much more for you than I do that little sparrow.” I had to stop right where I was and give Him some praise.

Yes, He created that little sparrow and has given it the instinct its needs to survive and thrive, but He DOES care so much more for you and me. How do I know this? Because He sent His precious Son, Jesus Christ, from heaven to earth to lift us from the pits of sin that we live in. He has placed us upon the Rock that will stand firm through the storms and trials of life.

Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to Him than they are? (Matthew 6:26, NLT)

Father we praise You today because You care so much for us. Thank You that You cared enough to send Your one and only Son to earth in order to lift us from the pit of sin that once enslaved us. Help us to know today that You provide for our every need. We love You and praise You. Amen.

Thank you for the reminder. Sometimes there’s a fine line between falling out of the nest and being pushed; it’s good to know God knows the difference and is looking out for our best in either circumstance.

I love when God speaks so clearly! Lucky for us if the devil gets ahold of us for awhile God will still take care of us! He won’t leave us stranded and alone! :)

  7. See Jenifer…I knew you knew better…you’re suppose to use gardening gloves of something that doesn’t leave your human touch…is the abby alright? is the mom rejecting it? or all of them? You’d better get digging worms!!! (lol) I love our Our Lord speaks so freshly and clearly through you! I’m so glad that HE is watching out for this little bird…in so many ways! Thanks Jenifer for the spiritual lift! Bless you!

Just to let you all know the little birdie is A-OK. Within a few days he and his brothers and sisters had flown the coop out into the wild blue yonder.

Thanks for all of your precious comments. Our God is so good to remind us of His great love for us through His beautiful creation.

    Blessings to you all,
    Jenifer
