“I’ll water it later,” I thought as I noticed a houseplant that was beginning to wilt. It was only slightly under-watered and I was very busy getting ready for a big vacation so I did not have time to tend to it.
This same thing occurred two more times. Each time I noticed the plant, it hung lower and lower until finally the leaves were facing the ground as if downcast. If I had not taken the time to finally water it before our vacation, it surely would not have made it.
Likewise, when we get caught up in the busyness of life and put off the watering of God’s word to our hearts, we too can become wilted and downcast. We have a hard time overcoming the many difficulties that come up in life.
When we meditate on His precepts day and night, we are like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers (Psalm 1:2-3).
Let us be careful to not procrastinate as I did with my plant. The rewards are great. We are full of life and rejuvenated. We are able to bear fruit that can be offered to others for their nourishment. Our faces will be radiant and lifted up, as with my plant that was finally watered, giving glory and praise to our Maker.

Simply put…AMEN! I love the way The Lord inspires His women to write and open our eyes in everything, enabling us to share the simplicity of knowing Him. Praising Him for your gift and these words you’ve shared. AMEN again.
This is exactly the reminder I needed to hear this morning, Angie . . .thank you! I’ve been trying to develop the habit of prayer time before anything else each morning, but I haven’t been trying very hard. I’m a night-owl by nature, and mornings have always been the most difficult part of my day, which of course means that a bad morning sets the course for my entire day, and I am usually completely wilted by bedtime. I know the mornings that I manage to drag my behind out of bed before the rest of the crew and spend just 15 minutes in prayer, then I am able to see God setting the course for my day! What makes me think that I am the captain of this ship?? I’ve got to learn to turn the helm over to Him! Thanks again for your encouraging post :o)
This analogy was perfect. We do wilt with out the essential nutrients that come from only our Lord. What a beautiful post. Thank you.
This is a great message for me as I sometimes procrastinate getting into the Word…the very place I need to often be!! Thank you!
