You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 2 Corinthians 3:3
I was cleaning out my filing cabinet the other day and came across a file labeled “RESUMES”. As I looked over my job experience and personal references from 12 years ago, I began to wonder what my resume would look like now. Let’s see ….. accomplished nose wiper, capable of chasing a toddler down stairs and across the yard without spilling my coffee, can balance the checkbook and correct homework while stirring a pot of dinner. Hmmmm…. not very impressive.
Maybe you have had the same thoughts while in conversations with friends. As you listened to them tell of all they have done and who they know, you feel yourself shrinking and intimidated. I have been in the same position even to the point of feeling angry and bitter towards my husband and children for “holding me back”.
It is so easy to fall into the trap, yes the pit, of tying our self worth to our resume. Lets remember something very important. God does not use the same measuring stick as the world does to decide our worth. Our accomplishments as moms cannot be written down and rated, our achievements are found in the hearts and souls of our family.
Our job as moms and wives is to love our families; this is priceless to Jesus. Nothing else, no executive paycheck, or social status, or even righteous accomplishments are worth more than the value of our loving touch on the hearts of our children and husbands.
Let us learn to use God’s value system. In fact, maybe being able to push 3 children on swings at the same time while hanging out a load of laundry and belting out the ABC’s is impressive after all.

Tessa has been married for 13 years and is the stay-at-home-mom of 3 (1 girl and 2 boys-ages 8, 5 & 2) beautiful children. She was encouraged to share devotions for moms when Shera (our administrator and Tessa’s “big” sis) read how she journaled her daily Scripture reading. This is a little look into the way she applies life experience and listens to what God is saying to her as she reads the Bible each day.

Great devotional. Thank you
Wowzer, love this post. I cannot tell you how much I needed to hear these words today.
Um…yeah…. I think I needed to read that today! What a good reminder. I should print it off and put it on the corkboard and read daily.
Thanks for the message-
