Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. John 15:2
I searched the garage for a file to sharpen my pruning shears, but no avail. Milder temperatures and spring rains had brought wild growth to my shrubbery and it had to be tackled, even by blunt force.
As I whacked with all my might and trained each bush to a desirable shape, a pruning of the mind was performed by a tool far superior to my dull clippers. Random ruminations needed to be cut back. The sword of the Spirit worked with exactness judging the thoughts and intentions of my heart.
Sprigs of worry over my family’s future were cut away giving rise to abundant growth…therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.
This tongue of mine which shoots forth, quick to exalt self, is tamed to speak wisdom and life instead. Offshoots of ego are cropped yielding increase for it is not I who lives, but Christ who lives in me.
Both gardens are now tended and readied to produce greater fruit for the glory of God.
So beautifully written, obviously inspired by His pen on your heart. Love the analogy and the message it unfolds for me. Thank you!
