My mom used to pray this prayer for my older sister, who was struggling with finding her place in life: "God, please take her life and make it something beautiful". When my sister lost her battle with cancer 2 years ago, I realized that God had answered my mom's prayer after I met so many people at her funeral that shared their stories of how she had touched their lives, just like a beautiful butterfly. On the anniversary of her death this past September, I was sitting at my computer and I noticed a strange shadow on the wall above me. When I looked closer, I was stunned to see that it was the shadow of two butterflies dancing in the light of the setting sun outside my window. In that wonderful and peaceful moment, I felt as if God and my sister had stopped by to say hello. I've had a lot of other butterfly moments in the last two years, and since I was touched by yours, I wanted to share mine. May God continue to remind all of us to stop and enjoy the beauty around us.
