More To Be Desired Than Gold

Posted By Susanne

Yesterday in church was a day of rejoicing for us as a family as we watched a very good friend being baptized. As I thought over the last few years of her journey to this point, I thought of all the hard things she had been through and all the questions. I also remembered the faithfulness of God in leading her slowly to this point where she was publicly declaring her commitment to Him.

What in her life had brought her to this change in her life? It was the Word of God working in her. Over the last three or so years, the Word had been spoken & read to her, spoken over her and prayed for her. Even at times she couldn’t see beyond the pain, the times she wanted to run, that Word was at work in her life and continued to draw her. The Word of God would come up in her remembrance and comfort her, refresh her, convict her and teach her. It gave her hope and wisdom and showed her who God was. So step by step and day by day she was being set free to the point we were standing and rejoicing as she was being baptized.

The Word of God is there for you, too. Do you need wisdom? Do you need refreshing? Do you need hope? Do you need convicting? Do you need peace? Turn to the Word and allow it to work in you. Let it awaken your heart to Him. Let His words work in your heart and mind to bring you to the point of freedom.

“The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul;
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple;
The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart;
The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes;
The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever.
The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous.

They are more precious than gold,
Than much pure gold,
They are sweeter than honey,
Than honey from the comb”

Psalm 19: 7-10 NIV

  3. I’m so grateful for the POWER of God’s word, Susanne. I actually have scripture cards hanging all over our house…bathroom mirrors, pantry doors, even in the closets.
