Intimacy

I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. Psalm 16: 7-8

There is something so amazing about being intimate with God. There is something so powerful that happens when I wake during the night and feel the presence of the Lord, or when I hear the Lord speaking to me. My soul is blessed. My soul praises Him who created me. I feel safe. I feel secure. I know that everything is going to be all right because my Daddy is in charge. He is taking care of me and of my family. I know this deep within my soul. I rejoice.

Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies,…Psalm 103: 1-4

I also think there is something so amazing about sharing my God, my faith with like-minded people. I was with some “women of God” last night and it was so wonderful being able to openly share my faith with them. There was an intimacy between us that could only come from all of us sharing the same faith, the same beliefs.

What a gift it is to be able to sit in a public area and be able to talk freely of our love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! What an amazing gift. There was no fear of someone coming up and harming us for our beliefs. The thought never crossed our minds. We just had a great time, sharing together.

Sing to the LORD, bless His name; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples. Psalm 96:2-3

There is also something amazing in being able to share my intimate faith with people who do not know the love of Christ; who do not know or understand the amazing love of my Lord and Savior. My heart grieves for those who have rejected this love or turned there back on God due to pain often inflicted by other Christians, either purposefully or unknowingly.

The only thing about all Christians is that we are human and we make mistakes that hurt others. This is where forgiveness: the taking and the asking of it are so crucial in a Christians walk. Forgiveness from Christ is an intimate gift we need to share with others so that their walk with the Lord is never jeopardized and neither is mine.

Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp. For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation. Psalm 149: 2-4

To me sharing my faith with believers and unbelievers alike is like dancing in the spirit of God. A few years back I wrote a short poem about how I felt dancing with the Lord.

Dancing within Spirit

I reached up

And stroked a picture

As I unfurled

To consider the heavens;

Neither height nor depth

To what I found

My fingers absorbed

His Essence all around

My feet united with the grass

I danced, in Spirit.

I pray you will spend some time today being intimate with your Heavenly Father and also with your friends and loved one in Christ and don’t forget to share that joys with others who need a true touch from the Savior.
God Bless!

    Hi Kathleen,

Bless you and all the ladies who write on this website. I look forward to each word that you write from your heart every day. Today you touched a sensitive place in my heart. Being surrounded more by those whose beliefs differ from my own. I long and look forward to be surrounded by others who are able to worship, praise and talk freely of their love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Though I know that it is vitally important to be a light for those who walk in darkness, yet it is through my “Sisters in Christ” that I am encouraged, lifted and comforted to press on. Thank you for being that “light” in my life.

    Blessings and Joy,
    Debby Thompson

This devotion was a blessing to me. The blessing of sisters in Christ transcends everything I believe….it is a connection that can not be explained to those who are not believers…They “think” their friendships are so wonderful and so deep, however they will end when they leave earth, whereas, the Christian sisterhood will continue in heaven for eternity. To me, this makes our sisterhood in Christ so much sweeter and so much more supportive….thank you for this. You encouraged my heart today. May yours be encouraged also….
