When my girls were much younger I would have them set beside me while I read my Bible aloud to them, and that can still work well now that they’re older, but I really want them to learn how to dig into the Bible. I began writing devotions about fourteen years ago, but never had I published them. Now that I have found the internet to be somewhat of a cyber mission field I have been publishing them on blogs. My daughters will sit down and read all my devotions and whenever I find one that would pertain to them on another blog, I invite them to take a moment to read them.
A few months ago I spoke to them about writing their own devotions. At first they weren’t interested, until one night Jessi was inspired to write about something that angered her. She had a ‘righteous’ anger about sin and wanted to put her thoughts down. She sat down in front of her computer and put her fingers to work as she typed ferociously. When she was finished she asked me to read it, and that was when I told her I would build her a blog of her own. She has been writing ever since!
Then my second daughter, Moni (although she likes to be called Mj) began writing as well and I built her a blog as well. She has sent in a sample of her work to an online devotional site and they accepted her devotion and sent her an application to write for their site.
This was all happening so fast and the Lord was indeed blessing their words in the lives of other young girls who chose to stop by and read what he had placed on their hearts. I had read on another blog about finding something a mother and daughter could work on together to help strengthen their relationship and it hit me! An online magazine for girls! That was when Growing in Grace Magazine (GGM) was born. We developed Growing In Grace as an online magazine for young girls who desire to have devotions for their age level as well as many other fun articles throughout the month. We partnered with some other young writers and our first edition is scheduled to be ready the first week of February.
Who would have thought our mother-daughter project would end up being an online magazine? We want to bring the love of Christ to young ladies all over the world. Every article is laced with scripture; even our pet care and beauty articles have Jesus in the midst. GGM is an interactive magazine in that readers may comment, just as we do here at Faith Lifts, and they may also participate in different meme’s and giveaways as well. We do hope you’ll come by and preview GGM for your daughters.
What projects bring you and your daughters together?

It is exciting to learn the story behind the debut! It is so similar to what I am going through with my oldest, who is just 8. I’m glad to follow in your footsteps.
Blessings,
Elisa
Yea!!! I have looked high and low for something my daughter and I can do together. I tried to get her involved in dance (which I did all my life), but she wasn’t interested. She shares her love of sports with her dad. I felt pretty left out in that realm.
I am excited to say that I can now share writing with her. It causes us to go through life thinking out loud. We join our thoughts together and I am able to watch her put them on paper. Such a beautiful thing!
I am so excited about Growing in Grace!
