Making the Connection

The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers. 1 Peter 3:12 (NIV)

I have struggled this week with writing a devotion. I’m sick, the daily schedule is askew, the kids are out of sorts and nothing is being accomplished. It’s Thursday night, my devotion is due and why won’t God just speak to me already? At that thought, I stopped.

Hmmm…I have been waiting for eloquent words which will touch the souls of readers to spew from my thoughts, to my fingers and finally, to the keyboard. Perhaps God isn’t talking to me because I am not talking to him. Hmmm…

God talks to us through His Word, the Bible. Prayer is us talking to God. Prayer is the primary way we connect to the all-knowing, all-powerful, all-loving God. Edward Ferrell wrote that “without prayer, there is no way, no truth, no life.” Without prayer, you can never get close to God.

I have neglected getting on my knees this week. My Bible study has not been completed faithfully. I’m having a rotten week because I have been going through it without conversing with the Lord.

God does not put conditions on your prayer life. You do not hurt his feelings when you don’t pray. But when you do, He connects with you in a powerful way.

Join me. Talk to God. He is listening.

GREAT post!! This is something I really needed to “hear”. Thank you so much!

    Blessings~

  2. this was the gentle slap I needed. My family and I are going through a lot right now and I can’t tell you how often I’ve wondered why our prayers seem not to be answered the way “we want them to be” and why I haven’t heard him.

I know he’s there. I know everything happens for his purpose. I love him dearly. He has held me up during some of the most painful two years of my life, but there are those times (especially lately) where I question where he is … and he is all around and in the word…I’m just not there with him.

Thanks for this post. I need to crack open that Bible, get down on my knee’s and have a conversation with God (not just pleas for help), and open myself up to him on a friendship level and not just a “gimme, gimme, gimme” level.

How do we so easily forget?
Anytime life seems to be going askew I start asking, “ok God, where are you?” Only to be tapped on the shoulder by Him saying “I’m right here. You turned your back and haven’t been speaking to me or listening when I speak.” Oh, yeah. Thankfully, God is patient, loving and forgiving every time.

And why is it we seem to forget this so easily???

It’s always right in the midst of madness that I get jerked back into the reality of it all. IF ONLY my thick headed stubborn skull could remember this each time things start spiraling outta control…..
    THEN…. JUST MAYBE
I wouldn’t even reach “that point of madness”

May our noses be glued to the center of his word lest we forget that all we need to do is “Look Upward!”

    Great post girlie! :0)

    Walking in his SONshine!

Trina ~ You said it! I almost apologized for this post being so brief, but God doesn’t necessarily need many words. :)

Loved this post. I spend my whole life on my knees, figuratively speaking. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
