Dancing With God

I leave you in peace; my peace I give you. I do not give it to you as the world does. So don’t let your hearts be troubled or afraid.John 14:27

This week I shared the following photo and story at my personal blog. I wanted to share it here and expound with verse and an additional thought. It was a surreal moment with my son, and God was speaking through him words I needed to hear about my worry and about His love.

The State Of Being Vulnerable…

…exposure.

As I stood peering through the sidelights of our front door, this was the scene.

I watched for quite sometime, and Mac never moved. I longed to be in his mind, share his thoughts, but dared not interrupt the private world of an Aspie. He looked so vulnerable sitting there, exposed to the sun, the breeze, the people who happened along the street. He looked so alone. My mind began to race forward with so many worries, what-ifs. Will my son be a survivor, a success? Will he overcome the stigma…the people who doubt his capabilities because of a diagnosis? Will he be alright when his father and I are no longer here to watch over him? Sometimes thinking is just too much. So I picked up my camera, snapped a photo, and as I did Mac called, “Hey mom. Come here.”

“Hi, sweetie. What’cha doing?”

“Mom, have you ever watched the leaves on the trees in the wind? It’s really nice that God takes the time to send the wind to dance with the leaves.”

I felt my heart flutter. The worry vanished. I felt relaxed with the thought of my son out there in the big world…without me…but with God…who takes the time to send the wind to dance with the leaves.

~~~
I pray that you…will have the power to understand the greatness of Christ’s love–how wide and how long and how high and how deep that love is.
Ephesians 3:18
My son painted a simple yet beautiful picture of God’s love and tender presence. Ephesians 3:18 reminds me how much Christ loves me. Surely He will dance with me, too. I only need open my heart, release my will and accept His love. And it’s not a private party…He will dance with you, too.
    I got chills reading this..no worries with Jesus! What an amazing boy. I think sometimes we move to quickley through life. We need to sit, alone, in the quiet, stillness to hear Jesus. Your son has that gift!
    Wow, just wow! God is able to use what some would call the simple things of this world to confound the wise. What a potent piece! Tell your son I said thank you!
    Donna, yes I think he does have a gift. Many people view his Asperger’s Syndrome as a burden. I would argue that viewpoint. God makes no mistakes.
    Angie, how grand it would be if we could all be like the little children. I’ll give Mac your message, but then remind him of the source of his insight. :)
    That was incredible, I just sat and cried. How precious that he was alone with God at that moment you snapped that shot. What a priceless treasure you just created in one photo.
    That took my breath away and brought tears to my eyes. God used your son to speak to me also - and probably to many others. Thank you for sharing your life and your precious gift - son - with us. What a blessing he must be!
    I wrote a poem once, Dancing in Spirit. If you like I can share it with you. God is just so good to calm our hearts and fears. We so need to just trust our children with Him, because they are indeed His children first.
    Thank you for a beautiful story of love.
