That is so true. Beth Moore talks about this very subject in “When Godly People Do Ungodly Things”. It’s actually very freeing to have rules, because as long as you stay within the boundaries of the rules, you don’t have to worry about bad consequences, and you can enjoy life.

It’s like I tell my daughters, a good parent cares about what their children do. If I didn’t love them, I wouldn’t care and they could do whatever. God loves us enough to care about what we do and give us rules (not guidelines or suggestions, RULES) on how to live. There is more freedom within the boundaries than outside in the chaos.

Thank you Melody. My husband teaches a class on boundaries to the men in our rescue mission. Boundaries make me feel more secure. :O)
