Unanswered Questions Answered

He looked to be past retirement age, balding, but with a boyish grin. His work unveiled the mystery of nearly 15 years of unanswered questions. His words brought tears to my eyes, “I’m so glad you came here because I can help you.” I’d longed to hear such an affirmation for so long, only to be disappointed and hearing, “It’s all in your head,” or “You’re depressed,” instead. I’d been from doctor to doctor, never understanding why they didn’t believe what I was telling them was real. Then, of course, there was the woman whose care I was under for nine years who simply gave me the shoulder shrug and blank stare.

When the dizziness, low energy level, body aches and lightheadedness worsened again, I brought it up at an appointment. Receiving the usual apathetic response from her, I called my chiropractor to ask his opinion. I wondered if my blood pressure was too low at times. He told me I could call him anytime and stop by his office after work, that he would take my blood pressure, and we could keep an eye on it. One day when I was feeling particularly tired and lightheaded, I had him take my blood pressure and it was perfect. He asked a bit more about my symptoms and in just a few minutes stated I probably have allergies. He suggested an allergy clinic that had successfully treated thousands of patients by prescribing under the tongue drops to them.

The balding doctor with the boyish grin confirmed my chiropractor’s suspicions. I found out I had several inhalant allergies as well as food allergies. Which one was causing the worst symptoms for me? Corn. In addition to taking the drops daily, I nearly eliminated corn products from my diet. In just two weeks, I felt like a new woman.

I’ve received help from other alternative treatments also. So what if I wasn’t willing to try them? I’d be walking around nauseated, dizzy, hurting all over, and lightheaded with no energy. It would take everything out of me just to get through a day at work and do only what I absolutely had to at the end of the day. I would be hesitant to make any recreational plans because I wouldn’t know if I would feel up to it when the time came. My relationships would be hindered because those around me wouldn’t understand why I couldn’t do all of the things they could and whether I legitimately had anything wrong with me. I would feel their doubts about my situation. How do I know this is how my life would be like? I know because at one time this was my life. Western medicine did nothing to improve my quality of life.

God gave us the bodies we live in and it’s our responsibility to take good care of them. If you’re perplexed by some of your symptoms and if those in Western medicine are equally as confused, I’d suggest you consider an alternative treatment. If that doesn’t work, I’d encourage you to try another. Each of our bodies is unique and what works for one may not work as well for another. Make it your mission to find what benefits you the most. Don’t rely solely on just one system of medicine or only one type of alternative treatment. There’s no reason you shouldn’t get the best from your available options. And who knows, perhaps you’ll get help from a balding man with a boyish grin like I did.

Yep, I experienced a similar thing years ago when I had an undiagnosed condition, which was amazing with all the test I had undergone. I desperately prayed to God for insight and wisdom. I was wasting away with chronic overactive bowels. I ended up going to a health food store and supplemented with acidophilus. After good bacteria was restored I was finally healed. I believe I had yeast overgrowth from years past and then all the antibiotics they put me on. It could have all been so simple!
