I've grown more in my realationship with Christ since being a parent. Those sweet little kids are like little mirrors that show us our own weaknesses and faults. Never have I been so aware of my lack, then when my children are repeating back my bad attitudes, rude comments, sass, and disrespect. It's brought me to my kness so many times in repentance to them and to the Father that I'm sure I'll have sore knees forever! But without their mirroring of my often poor examples, I wonder how stunted my spiritual growth might have been. Iron sharpens Iron and even though I have authority over them, God is using them to parent me too!

Thank you for this. I think it is EXCELLENT. It is so true too. My husband and I have made so many mistakes with our eldest son and I wish I would have had your wisdom at the time...it might have made a difference. I do praise God that He gave us more of this insight to hopefully discipline the rest of our children in a better, more obedient way. Thanks again.

great thoughts janice! amen...
love is hard. and to love our children will require us to discipline them. God help! give us wisdom, grace and strength to know how to walk.

Janice, I struggle the same way! I can encourage you to say that anytime we've cracked down, my daughter has responded (and yes, it's hard), but it's hard not to slip back again. We all need to keep reminding each other how important it is.
