Rejoice

Posted By Laura

This is the day the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalms 118:24

Rushing to the post office. Stopping at the grocery store. Running kids from one place to another. Washing another load of laundry. Drying another sink full of dishes.

Does that seem familiar? So many times we are rushing off to do something only to be late for another thing. How often do we wish for just another hour in the day? Another day in the week? Another month in the year? Many times our day is spent running from place to place and attempting to fill each moment with activities. It leaves us at the end of the day so exhausted that we miss experiencing the simple joys of life. We don’t pencil in time to laugh, to play, or to rest. Once the day is past we can’t re-live it.

We have the ability to do so many things more quickly than our grandparents… even our parents. Yet, we still seem to run out of time. Life seems to encourage us to rush. It is important to be productive. It is important to be satisfied with what we have accomplished. But it is just as important for us to take time to rest and experience the joy of love, laughter and life.

God has given us the ability to love and to laugh and to enjoy life. Today, let’s think of something that takes a little extra time and do it. Do it for yourself. Do it for your neighbor, your family, your friends. Do it for the Lord. Rejoice in the day and be glad for it!

    This is so true for me. It is so easy nowadays to get hung up in the rushing around. Thanks for the reminder to stop and rejoice in the day.

    How true! This week my 8 month old daughter has been sick and we’ve been stuck in the house! Ugh! It is been a long week, but today I woke up realizing that I needed to do something special with my little girl to make the day better. So, we took our first bath together! She loved it! She splashed around and I found myself feeling such joy in the midst of a “blah” day! Blessings to you Laura and may the joy of the Lord find you today and forevermore! Tracy
