A New Beginning

Posted By Laura

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17

What did you see when you looked in the mirror this morning? The mistakes you have made in the past year? The words left unspoken? The hurts of the last year?

That is not what God sees when He looks at us. He sees us as a “new creation,” clothed in His son’s righteousness, and He sees the potential we have to be our best for Him in the next year. He envisions all the gifts He has prepared for us in the coming year, and the opportunities we have to serve Him and our fellow Christians.

“Every morning is a fresh beginning. Every day is the world made new. Today is a new day. Today is my world made new. I have lived all my life up to this moment, to come to this day. This moment–this day–is as good as any moment in all eternity. I shall make of this day–each moment of this day–a heaven on earth. This is my day of opportunity.”

Make this your day of opportunity as well. Look forward to what God has in store for us for every day with the Lord is a new day- a new beginning.

Discussion: What opportunities do you think God has in store for you this new year?

  1. what a great quote - thanks for sharing Laura! :)

  2. Laura–I do not know what may be in store, but I am trying to seek Him this year by being open to what He may have for me. This last year was a wonderful gelling of using my God-given gifts and in the process renewing some hopes and dreams as well. What a gift that was! I would be thrilled if there was more in store in 2007.

I plan to remind myself that in Christ, I am a new creation. Not in Paula or what I can do in my flesh, but in Christ.

I am new to this blog, but have been checking it out for a while. This is a great post. I, too, have a hard time relying on God to take care of it all. I am a habitiual worry wart. This year I am really going to try to just relax, be still, and know that God will take care of my every need.
