I have several 'skeletons' in my closet. I really need to pray about them and ask first God for forgiveness and than move on to forgive the person(s).

Wonderful post. I'm ususally quick to forgive, but it helps when I can try to understand where the other person is coming from. Putting myself in their shoes, looking at what they may have been thinking and feeling (even if I don't get to talk to them about it), makes it so much easier to forgive them.

When I first began my journey to forgive others, I found myself failing numerous times. It was only until I understood I had to forgive MYSELF before I could pass on that gift to others. Offering forgiveness is much like wiping the slate clean. I've found that everything changes once you accept His gift of forgiveness. From big to small, everything looks differently. Everything takes on a different taste and touch. Forgiveness is an amazingly powerful gift that can ONLY come through Him. But before you can offer it to others you must first give it to yourself.

I do not withhold grace. Giving it is the best thing I could do for myself and others. Finding forgiveness is amazingly difficult, but like all of His gifts. those that are the hardest to come by give the biggest rewards.
