Faith Builders: re-Joy-cing

Posted By Heather

And on that day they offered great sacrifices, rejoicing because God had given them great Joy. The women and children also rejoiced. The sound of rejoicing in Jerusalem could be heard far away.

Rejoice, by defination means:

1. to be glad; take delight (often fol. by in): to rejoice in another’s happiness.
2. to make joyful; gladden: a song to rejoice the heart.

My mornings are hectic, there is no other way to describe them. My two older children go to one school and my youngest daughter goes to a school almost 30 minutes away. Their schools start and end at the same time, therefore making timing in our home the number one priority every morning. Tack onto that the 15 medications Emma takes every morning, getting the kids dressed, getting myself dressed, the dog fed, the back packs repacked, I could go on and on- I am exhausted by 8:45am.

Its hard to have joy when you are floating through life on vapors. Deadlines, laundry, bills, voice mail, husband, kids, parents, errands, school, church…. Its enough just to make it through the day alive. Forget about actually enjoying it. It’s true that life is difficult, and you can’t depend on your circumstances to bring true joy. But you can always find joy in all that Jesus did for you on the cross, in all that awaits you in heaven. When life seems to suck the joy right out of you (which, if were were all honest, we would be shaking our heads in agreement right now), look to God to give you great joy!

Discussion: How awesome would it be if today, in our daily life, our entire city could hear our rejoicing from far away! In what areas of your own life do you recognize lack of joy and thanksgiving? Is your heart joyful in the everyday mundane stuff?

What a relevant topic to all moms, especially during this holiday season which should be joyful, but is often filled with the stress of life!

I know I hit it at a different perspective, but it’s something that has been going on with me lately so it seemed right. This is my first time participating in the meme though I have been reading for a bit. Thanks for the opportunity!

I admire your ability to not only find joy in the every day things, but to be so giving as well. Hope you had a great weekend. Love ya!

  5. A very timely topic. I lost my joy today, and thanks to seeing Faith Builders I was reminded to let the joy back in and to be thankful for things, even if I find them to be stressful.

  6. Wonderful topic Heather - and I can relate to rushed mornings - even though I have nothing like the amount you have to do!

I wrote about those days when grumbling robs us of our joy.

Okay ignore my Mr. Linky which takes you to the wrong post but this is probably what I need to read right now. I’m in a grumbling mode right now and I just need to be thankful.
