Today some of us may be eating big meals with our families, watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade on tv (or in person if they’re lucky!), watching football games, or putting up Christmas decorations. We may be surrounded by many members of our extended family and friends, we may have just a small intimate gathering of our immediate family, or we may have something in between or beyond. We may have turkey or ham or sweet potatoes or pumpkin pie. Regardless of how or where or with whom we celebrate Thanksgiving today, we are all giving thanks to God.
I am giving thanks for family and great friends, for shelter and food, for the blessings that I have recieved and for those that I have not. I will be spending the day with my parents, my sister, great aunts and uncles, and many, many cousins. Much like the first Thanksgiving, we will sit at a table and feast with Pilgims and Indians and give thanks to our Creator.
Today my daughter’s will say the blessing before we eat, a blessing they wrote together two years ago.
Thank you Lord
for giving me
a place to live
and food to eat.
Clothes on my back
and family to love.
Thank you Lord
in heaven above.
Amen.
Enjoy your family today. Give thanks for your blessings. Give thanks for our Lord.

Happy Thanksgiving Laura!
