Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God which He has given you. Deuteronomy 16: 17
Matt was a little boy who loved his bike. This bike was very special to him because not only was it his first bike, but it was also a gift from his Nana who had recenly passed away. He rode this bike until it was literally falling apart. One day the handle fell off. It was no longer repairable and his mom and dad decided it was time to get Matt a new bike.
The morning after he received his new bike, Matt saw his old bike out next to the garbage. He ran out and grabbed it up and brought it back into the garage. His Daddy came out and told him that they could not keep the bike, that it only had one handle and was not safe for him anylonger. It was time to learn to ride his new bike. Matts reply melted his fathers heart,
I know daddy, but it was such a good bike, and its wheels still work! We just need to find a little boy who only has one arm to share it with!
This true story came from one of my dearest and closest friends. It has been shared around many thanksgiving tables over the years and has warmed many hearts. Matt’s thoughts on giving are so true, and we could all learn from the wisdom of a 6 year old boy!
It is every man’s obligation to put back into the world at least the equivalent of what he takes out of it. -Albert Einstein
You have blessed our lives with so much, yet we sometimes forget to be thankful in our giving. Help us have a heart like Matt, a heart that is eager and willing to share your blessings with those around us. Help us to have his faith, and his compassion. Take away our selfishness, and replace it with your amazing spirit. You gave the ultimate gift in your Son, remind us again of that lesson as we live our daily lives in our homes.
How can Christ use your giving in a way to minister to another person today? Do you have a story of giving that has touched your life deeply?

My life recently has become a chorus of giving thanks. I am finding that I did not do so very often and realized that not matter how small it was, it came about because of God. So I find much to be thankful for in my day! Much!
Today or any other day, one of the gifts that I should use to minister to others is the one given me in such abundance - mercy.
God has provided for me and my family in so many incredible ways! I need to be thanking him with tangible gifts every day - thank you for the reminder!!!
I needed to reply to your post because it blessed me so much. I was having a hard time with giving….missing the blessing of the gifts I’ve been given…and having a real pity party. I know I’ll leave this world with nothing, but what joy I’ve had sharing my gifts with others.
