Say It Forward – Week 39: This week’s loyal commenter is Melissa from Our Suburban Homestead.

melissaMelissa, a stay at home mom to two precious little girls, is a sensitive, music loving, old fashioned, crafty kind of gal. Though she has a higher degree in music therapy, what Melissa loves more than anything is being able to stay home with her girls and take care of her home.

Melissa enjoys photographing her daughters (who wouldn’t love taking pictures of those big eyes?) and allowing them the freedom to explore and learn from the world around them. As a home schooling mom, Melissa works hard to ensure that her children are learning every day and I admire the tenacity with which she tackles being a mother, teacher, a nuturer and of course, a wife.

Melissa describes herself this way: I am wife to Lane, mommy to Layla and Aelyn on a journey to living a more simple and grace based life. I long to be a super “domestic diva.” I love reading about homemaking topics and admire those who seem to be the complete examples of “domestic divas”. I just have yet to get it all together in a way in which I feel comfortable using the title. Statements such as our family decision to have me stay at home and raise our children being a waste of all those “brains” and “all that education” hits a sore spot and saddens me. I believe ministry starts in the family and feel so blessed that I have been able to stay home since Layla’s birth- even if it required some sacrifices to do so. I look forward to homeschooling our children for as long as God leads.

Thank you, Melissa, for faithfully sharing your life as a mom with us, your readers.
