I actually never received any Easter baskets as a child. So the best one would have to be the one my husband got me while we were dating. He filled it with all my favorite candies and this HUGE yellow duck. We’ve been together for over 10 years and I still have the duck and my kids love snuggling with it.

When I was a little girl, I got baby chicks for one year of Easter. The basket was as big as the living room, the chicks were bigger than my head, and bags of MnM’s stuffed the basket. My parents put a Sony Walkman on one of the chicks, of course my reaction was to scream up and down and hug my parents. I want my son to do the same to me this Easter, so please let me win this basket for my son, I know he’ll appreciate it. :)

We didn’t get Easter Baskets at my Moms house growing up and only on days when Easter fell on my bio Dads schedule did we get them but in all honestly I don’t ever remember getting one. It’s why I always make sure to have something even if it’s little for my kids.

My favorite Easter basket, back in the day, contained a huge chocolate Easter bunny right in the middle of it! The bunny was surrounded by peeps, jelly beans, malted milk eggs and various types of candy. Back when I was little (in the 60’s and 70’s) we didn’t get additional presents or anything. But waking up to those baskets on Easter morning, having an Easter egg hunt and spending the day with family on a day that smelled of Spring was just the best!

My best Easter basket was when I was in the 6th grade. We got rabbit food, and a new bunny. My mom was not an animal person, so this was the best gift. We had “Buns” the lop eared bunny for the next 8 years. She was litter box trained and loved to sit on your buns when we watched tv and layed on our tummies.

It sounds horrible now but it was wonderful in the 60’s to get the baby chicks that were dyed with Easter colors. It’s horrible because they died from the dye but people didn’t know it then and it was very wonderful – for a day or so.

    Life’s lessons, I suppose.

  47. Maranda says

We never really celebrated many holidays growing up because money was tight. For Easter I would get an occasional chocolate bunny or go to a public hunt.

When I was 9 I was really into Barbies & a friend of mine in the neighborhood had a large suitcase with everything Barbie that you could imagine. I would spend every minute I could at her house, to the point where you would think I lived there!

My friends mother knew we weren’t well off & invited my sister & I to their house for Easter. When we got there we seen two huge baskets with our names on it. My sister was 13 at the time so she had dress up jewelry, make-up & the normal teenage stuff. But mine was full to the brim of everything Barbie! From dolls to doll clothes to a doll car & even clothes for myself. I was so excited & thankful that I cried. That was my first & last real easter basket. But it was so amazing that I am okay with that.

I hope to win this basket so my son can feel this same excitement that I did. He loves SkyLanders so much that he saves every penny he makes to buy new characters. This would make this Easter so amazing!

    Thanks for reading

We didn’t get individual easter baskets growing up. mom took a basket or 2 we had around the house and filled it with candy (mostly handmade) and then we usually got a book or something small that would be sitting at our seat at the table when we woke up. It was a family of 8…individual basket would have been chaos and way too expensive!

I ha have really enjoyed getting stuff for my kids for easter though. Last year I made Darla a cool custom angry birds tote that she used for her pre-k easter egg hunt. cassiemdowatgmaildotcom

I was worried that the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy would both get to my house at the same time and fight over who should be there. When I woke up and had both some money under my pillow AND an Easter Basket, I was the happiest kid on the block! :) That must have been the best Easter Basket ever.

When we were little, there was usually a bit of candy along with a unique toy.

The best easter basket was one that my daddy, which I met on easter day of year 2002 made for me. I was 12 years old and had come to the US a few months before this holiday. I got a daddy, a promise that has never been broken, and the ability to forgive. All in one basket.

When I was younger it was a treat to get a basket! it was usually me begging and picking out a premade one at the store. My parents never celebrated big holidays and surely didn’t make holiday traditions! Which is the main reason as why I go all out for my kids! My son LOVES Skylanders! Good luck to everyone!

  90. Mary Dailey says

One year our parents brought their 3 oldest children together and told us there wouldn’t be any Easter baskets because they couldn’t afford it, but our youngest sister still believed so she would be getting one. We tried to assure our mother that it would be okay. We could tell she wanted to cry. Easter morning, there were 4 baskets with a chocolate easter bunny, some colored boiled eggs and a few pieces of candy. When you aren’t expecting anything, then that has to be the best I remember.

  91. Catherine says

We went to church one Sunday and my Sunday school teacher took my brother and I in a room and on the table was the biggest Easter basket for each of us. Mine had a huge stuffed yellow bunny and lots of toys and candy. That is really the only Easter basket I remember as a child because it was so unexpected and special.

My favorite Easter basket was for my 10th birthday which actually fell on Easter and in it I received a card that said I could finally receive my first hair cut and bangs. I still have the clipping. Lol

  100. Mary Zeller says

My favorite basket was an Easter basket my mother put together for me as a child. I remember always commenting on the prepackaged ones in the stores, and always pointing out to my parents how much I would like the Easter bunny to bring me one. So, one Easter morning there was a basket waiting for me in the doorway to my bedroom that contained everything I had always wished for: a stuffed bunny, a coloring book, a Peter Cottontail book, jelly beans, peeps, chocolate eggs and a solid chocolate bunny. All of this presented with cellophane wrapped around it, just like in the stores. Now, as a mother myself, I love my mother even more, knowing that things were tight and she was a busy woman, but just the same she went out of her way to make this basket, just for me, and in doing so fulfilling a small girl’s heart’s desire.
