5 Minutes for Books: Your Favorite Summer Read

Written by Jennifer

With it being Labor Day weekend, it’s officially the end of summer. Even if your kids went back to school weeks ago, that last long-weekend of the season signals the absolute no-turning-back end of summer.

With that in mind, I thought I’d use the column this week to discuss your favorite summer reads, and to share our team’s favorite books that they reviewed this summer.

My favorite book reviewed has got to be After You, which I just reviewed this week.

Dawn’s is also a recently reviewed book: Catching Fire.

Lisa enjoyed The Knight, another anticipated sequel.

Melissa finally read The Thirteenth Tale, and is glad she did.

Carrie’s was a nonfiction book on Friendship.

Lauren’s best read whose review posted this summer is Things Left Unspoken.

But Lauren also mentioned that she just finished Rooftops of Tehran for our October 6 Bookclub, and she liked that one best. Click through the links, and perhaps you’ll join us? Blogger or not, you can participate in the comments or by writing our post.

Our last Bookclub selection was the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and it was also universally mentioned as a favored selection of the summer.

What about you? What was your favorite read for the summer??

We don’t have a giveaway this week, but please leave us a comment and join the conversation.

We we do have two really great book giveaways going on now at 5 Minutes for Books, so check out our giveaway page, and enter there.

The winner of Hell is Other Parents is #22 nikkijoanis.

If you didn’t win — for a limited time if you email me with proof of purchase (5minutesforbooks AT gmail), you are eligible to receive a free Hell is Other Parents T-shirt!
