Now that Black Friday has passed, it’s time to celebrate small businesses with Small Business Saturday.
Small Business Saturday is held the Saturday after Thanksgiving, one of the busiest shopping times of the year. The first time it was celebrated was on November 27, 2010.
Holiday shoppers are encouraged to support small and local business – compared to the big box retailers and e-commerce stores that are featured usually on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
American Express and the National Federation of Independent Business conceived and promoted the idea. The hashtags #SmallBusinessSaturday and #smallbizsaturday on Twitter are used to highlight local businesses.
Here at 5 Minutes For Mom, we understand and realize the value of small business owners and want to celebrate them too.
