Tackle It Tuesday – Tackling My Attitude

by Erica

Ladies, I have been so consumed lately by the millions of things on my to-do list – daily tasks, work, doctor appointments, bills, housework – that I haven’t taken the time to enjoy the blessings all around me. I am sick of being grumpy all of the time, and so I am doing something about it!

This week I am TACKLING MY ATTITUDE. No more Debbie Downer. I need to be joyful and thankful, because I truly am so blessed in life.

I am going to start by focusing on all of the things that I am thankful for.

At the end of a long day, instead of getting annoyed that I am scrubbing all of the dishes that have piled up in the sink, I am going to focus on the fact that I have three little mouths to feed and food in my fridge to serve to my family.

When I am tripping over the toys strewn all over the house, I am going to take a deep breath and smile in gratitude, for the home I have to live in.

See, it’s all a matter of perspective.

Yesterday, I wrote a list of all of the things that I am thankful for. I also placed a few smaller lists in the areas of my house where I spend most of my time.

So, yes, I am tackling my attitude! I have so much to be thankful for, so many people in my life to cherish. It’s time to get out of my funk. It’s time to have a thankful and joyful heart!

What about you? What did you tackle this week?

Each week on Tuesday, we are posting before and after pictures of a project or trouble area that we tackled this week.

Find out more about Tackle It Tuesday here.
The project can be little or big – whatever you want.

Basically, Tackle It Tuesday is about giving ourselves incentive, deadlines and satisfaction in getting our household tasks done.

(It doesn’t even have to be housework… just whatever is on your To Do list.)

If you tackled a project this week, just add a comment and add your link below.

Happy tackling ladies…

Ah yes indeedy. Around here we call that ‘flipping.’ Not as in ‘flipping heck!’ but as in the flip side. It’s quite hard to do if you’re a miserable Brit like me, but with practice it does become much easier…..honest!

Great tackle! I have blogged about my attitude in the past. I really need a constant reminder to try to have the same kind of attitude I want my children to display!

LOL – my tackle post involves a bit of whining and complaining. Obviously my own attitude needs a bit of an adjustment as well. ;)

Yes, It Feels Like Chaos, I found myself complaining a lot and then reprimanding my daughter a few minutes later for whining and complaining. Talk about having a plank in my eye.

That’s a good one, Erica. I think it’s so important in times like this to sit back and be thankful and grateful for what we have.

I can totally relate. I get so caught up in the basic “chores” – cleaning bottles, laundry, etc.

I am thankful for my healthy son – who will be a month old on Friday. Oh how time flies!

Great tackle! I often have to remind myself to keep my attitude in check. My tackle is a bit similar as well this week in that I determined that tackling spending time with my children is more important than tackling all the laundry in the house. This came after getting frustrated that I didn’t get all that I wanted done yesterday.

Great Tackle!! The world looks so much better when we can see with a half full attitude!! It is easy to get absorbed in all the things we need to do. Good idea to stop and remember that we already have so much in our lives!

I’m right there with you on tackling my attitude. Life is tough enough with all the tasks we PT Working SAHMoms have to deal with. We don’t need nasty attitudes on top of it.

Excellent post. Just reinforces what I was just reading about and journaling about in my Bible study.

Thanks!

This is a great post. A wonderful reminder:) It’s easy to lose sight of how we’re blessed and why we REALLY do what we do when we get bogged down with checking things off of a list.

I’m sure you have enough to do!! It’s hard to be joyful when there’s so much on your plate. I’ve got some gardening and sewing projects going on, and I can be a guest tackler next week if you like.

My tackle this week is also about inner struggles and trying to be a better parent.

This is a great “tackle,” Erica!

Thanks for the reminder to be thankful.

Right this moment, I am thankful for:
* my 2 sweet girls
* my handsome husband
* my laptop
* my blog
* my health

…and so much more!

Yes its easy to forget that life is so tedious but when we remember those that have it harder and actually get to sample that type of life you really cherish the mundane and are very grateful. My dd14 has been recovering from a burst appendix since beginning of june 3rd hospitalized twice for a total of 10 days and we are small business family so sitting at the hospital and still working and running home to do that job and dd17 assisting with errands and household was a family challenge during her graduation and my mother having a heart attack. So chores no problem.

I’m thankful for laughter shared with my husband and daughter.

I’m thankful to live on the island of Guam.

I’m thankful I get to fly to the states to visit family in 3 days even if it means traveling 17 hours with a one year old by myself!

I had to chuckle when you shared about your “funk.” I did a thankful list this week as well and used the phraseology my “stank” attitude. We’re all a work in progress, but so thankful that for a teachable spirit. :) Many blessings!
