Lolli here…
One of my favorite ways to get into the holiday spirit (whichever holiday might be coming up) is to gather as many books as I can that relate to the holiday to read with my kids. Just this week, my son and I read the classic It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown (incredibly, I think the copy we have is an original 1967 edition, which somehow made it through two generations of childhoods).
There are so many great Halloween-themed books to enjoy with kids this time of year, and I love the Halloween picture books that 5 Minutes for Books has been featuring this week. Check out each of the reviews and recaps that the 5 Minutes for Books writers have written about this fun selection of books for kids.
Halloween Picture Books:
- Frankenstein, a Madeline Parody
- Hush, Little Monster
- The Spider and the Fly
- The Boo! Book
- Happy Halloween! by Liesbit Slegers
- The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin
Do you have a favorite Halloween book? I’d love to hear your suggestions!

The book my son LOVED was THe Big Pumpkin. It features a ghost, a vampire, a witch etc. He loved it when i would do all the different voices. He still has it at 10 yrs old and won’t let me purge that one.
