35th Anniversary of Pete’s Dragon (plus giveaway)

35 years ago this month, I remember plopping down on my daddy’s lap as we watched Pete’s Dragon for the first time. I was 3 years old. In my eyes, that dragon could be anyone’s best friend. During that whole movie, I don’t think I twitched a muscle. I have watched it every year since.

Yes — I am 38, but the kid in me LOVES this movie. In fact, it came on television the other day and ya know what? I still remember all the words to every single song! A movie like this just brings back amazing childhood memories!

Pete’s Dragon was the first children movie I saw in the movie theater. My favorite classic children movie.

A Chipmunk Adventure! Where they go all around the world in a hot air balloon. I still love that movie to this day, and I’m 27! lol

I fell in love with “Star Wars” when I was 12 years old. Before that– well, you have to remember that we didn’t have home video of any kind when I was growing up. I vaguely remember seeing “The Aristocats” and “101 Dalmations” at the movies when I was really little. “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and “The Wizard of Oz” came on TV pretty regularly and I would watch them any time they were on. And of course, as a little girl, I loved anything that had a horse in it.

That’s a toss-up between Annie, The Wizard of Oz, or The Sound of Music. Pete’s Dragon was the very first movie I ever saw in the theater! I think I was 4 or 5.

Believe it or not, Pete’s Dragon. We were the first family in our neighborhood with a VCR, and our first VHS tape was a copy of Pete’s Dragon someone had recorded from a cable show for us, so it was slightly edited and missing two songs. I watched it over and over, and to this day I can quote a majority of that movie.
