5 Minutes for Books: Dance Me, Daddy

by Guest Contributor

You can still enter all 15 fun and fabulous giveaways in the Summer Fun Giveaway at 5 Minutes for Books through June 10.

Today’s post is written by 5 Minutes for Books contributing reviewer Lauren.

PhotobucketMy husband doesn’t dance—ever. So you can imagine how surprised I was one Sunday afternoon to walk into my daughter’s bedroom and find a royal ball in progress. My daughter was dressed in her Snow White costume, and my husband was dancing her around the room. It truly melted my heart to see the special relationship between a daddy and his little girl (she obviously has him wrapped around her finger).

In Dance Me, Daddy, singer/songwriter Cindy Morgan captures the love between a father and daughter perfectly. The story begins with a young girl in pigtails who declares herself a princess and her daddy the king of the world. Each night, before the little girl is tucked into bed, they twirl around together. The story progresses until the father and daughter dance together at her wedding. Dance Me, Daddy is sure to tug on the heartstrings of fathers (and mothers) everywhere, and it is enjoyable for young children as well. It is a perfect story for a daddy to share with his little girl, and it would make a great Father’s Day gift.

This book was inspired Cindy Morgan’s song, “King of the World”, which was written for Point of Grace (the CD of this song is included with the book). The illustrations, by Philomena O’Neill are very well done. Ms. O’Neill conveys the love between the father and daughter with warm and vibrant artwork; and I appreciate that her illustrations include characters of many ethnic backgrounds. Dance Me, Daddy is a book that is sure to be enjoyed by anyone who understands the special bond between a father and his little girl (and I still count myself as a daddy’s girl, even though I am 35)!

If you would like to win one of three copies of Dance Me, Daddy, please leave a comment (U.S. and Canadian residents can win).

Additionally, Zonderkidz is currently hosting a contest where children and parents alike can enter to win a Sony BRAVIA for Dad on Father’s Day. Entrants simply tell a story about their own father, or a special father figure in their or their children’s lives. Click HERE to read more about this contest.

The winner of If you Give a Mom a Martini is #2 Laura.

Lauren is a wife, a mother of two, and an avid reader. She blogs at Baseballs and Bows.
