5 Minutes for Books: If You Give a Mom a Martini

I’ve been busy managing our fantastic Summer Fun Giveaway at 5 Minutes for Books, which is still in full-swing. Click on over and see what kinds of books, games, and activities are up for grabs through June 10.

I’m glad to have Dawn, one of our contributing editors at 5 Minutes for Books, standing in for me with our featured column this week:

Ever feel like hiding in your closet just to have a few minutes free from the demands, whining and other assorted joyful noises that emanate from your children? As moms, we adore and love our children, of course, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t allowed the desire to escape for a short time, every now and then, right? Am I the only one with the Calgon commercials of old running through my head?

Well, Julie Kappas and Lyss Stern have heard our cries, and they’ve answered with If You Give a Mom a Martini: 100 Ways to Find 10 Blissful Minutes for Yourself.

If you’ve got ten minutes, this collection offers up a wide variety of ideas, from a short Mom-cation in your head to more health and fitness oriented breaks. Some celebrities and TV personalities pop up in these pages as well, offering up their own tidbits of advice.

Overall, I’d say that the humor and the specific attention to the needs of Mom make this the perfect book to pop in a basket of goodies for the next baby shower you attend!

Dawn would prefer a margarita to a martini, if truth be told. But she does take 10 minutes every few days to blog away at my thoughts exactly.

The winner of My Mommy’s on a Business Trip is is #17 Meredith Rogan.

You should have received an email from me, but if not, please send your shipping info to 5minutesforbooksATgmail(dot)com.

Ooo, I’m with Dawn in that I’d take a margarita first, but… what a great idea for a book. It totally fits with my new years resolution to do something for myself each day. I haven’t always been doing that lately!
