Emerging Fashion Designers – Shabby Apple Wants You!

by Stacey Nerdin

There are many talented, creative individuals who dream of one day having a career in fashion design. But entering that industry can be difficult – it’s highly competitive and can cost a good deal of money to get started.

Shabby Apple, the popular online clothing boutique for women, wants to help those with an eye and talent for fashion design with their Emerging Designers Program.

Emerging Designers gives unknown designers the chance to “create beautiful clothing without the added work of hiring employees; paying taxes; or the management of shipments, marketing campaigns, customer service, and other logistical aspects of running a business.”

Designers start by submitting six designs according to Shabby Apple’s set of clothing requirements, then follow the application process outlined on the site. Once accepted to the Emerging Designers Program, designers will have their garments featured on the Shabby Apple site and will receive 40% of the revenue from the sale of their designs.

Previous designers accepted into the Emerging Designers Program at Shabby Apple have created some truly fabulous dresses, including these two – V.P., a beautiful black dress from the Skyscraper collection, and the romantic Love Me Do dress from the 65 collection.

I was sent both of these dresses for review, and passed them along to my good friend Amy, who recently hit a milestone with her weight loss goals and deserved something fun and feminine from Shabby Apple to celebrate. She reports that both dresses are high quality, with good material and solid construction. She loves that they both zip easily and are modest – as Shabby Apple says, “No need to add anything…no tank tops, no cardigans, nothing (except accessories, of course!).” She did say that though the body of both dresses are a great fit, the arms on both are a little tight, a caution Shabby Apple mentions in each of the product descriptions. Despite that, she highly recommends Shabby Apple for their lovely, versatile dresses.

*Disclosure: I was sent two dresses for review from Shabby Apple. No other compensation was received.

I have seen Shabby Apple designs before and they’re fun fresh and feminine. And sort of have a vintage feel to it. It’s great that they are giving opportunities to the new fashion designers who genuinely have passion for fashion.
