At the same time, we also can’t and shouldn’t count on schools to protect our children from hurt feelings all the time. We must help our children develop the inner grit and resilience to know how to protect themselves from verbal harassment as well as from physical abuse. But the show we are helping is a VERY respected show and I trust they have the children's best interests as top priority. Kim - I am so sorry your children have had to deal with bullying! My two oldest (13 & 17) have both fell victim at one time or another. Would I go on national television with it? Nope. It would just be further humiliation to them. I wonder if it will help the children involved or actually make things worse for them. It will need to be very sensitively handled. How old are the children you are looking for? Do they even know the meaning of the names they are being called? What a can of worms!! I hope there will be appropriate follow-up with the families after the show. My dear 11 old told me she would rather be dead then have to go to school. There has been one police report for one incident where she was left black n blue and the second landed her in the emergency room getting 5 stitches after being pushed down on ice at recess.
