Back to School Giveaway- Captain No Beard

by Jennifer Sikora

When my kids were little, I loved getting new books from the book fair and sitting on the couch for hours snuggling and reading. The kids were relentless in bringing me book after book to read to them. Some of them were so memorable that we read them until the covers were worn and would come off.

That is how I see Captain No Beard.

Captain No Beard and his hearty bunch of mates set sail from the confines of Alexander’s bedroom to a fantasy world of pirates, talking monkeys, ocean storms and mermaids.  Captain No Beard must learn to overcome obstacles by using his leadership skills and teamwork.

I was an avid reader and creepily enough, the Complete unedited Grimm stories made a big impression on me.

Which is why no 7 year old should be reading it – good, but when your fairy tales include chopping off his wife’s head and rubbing it on his stone sons to reanimate them, they are perhaps better suited to an older child.
