When that screen comes up, look for the tab at the upper left that says "find on twitter". Click that and enter your search term from there.There are several 3rd party services that you can use to navigate Twitter. Tweetdeck is popular, as is twitterfeed. I use twhirl. They often have features you don't find on the main Twitter page.Hope that helps!
