Chinese New Year is a very important and traditional holiday for many. It is a “spring festival” of sorts –kind of like Spring Break. It marks the end of the winter season with a festival, lots of delicious food, and fun for all involved. The Chinese New Year lasts for 15 days and ends with a beautiful “lighting of the Chinese lantern” festival. During this time a reunion dinner is served as a reminder of the passing year. I can only imagine how beautiful a Chinese New Year celebration is — as each family focuses on their strengths, their love, and their commitment to one another.
This year, PF Chang’s Home Menu would love to help 15 families to celebrate their very own Chinese New Year.
Prosperity, peace, happiness and longevity all symbolize the Chinese New Year, one of the most important and festive Chinese holidays. In this “Year of the Dragon” beginning January 23, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro and P.F. Chang’s Home Menu want to ignite your good fortune and share the spirit of this holiday with you.
Red Envelope Giveaway
The Red Envelope itself represents another significant tradition in Chinese culture. Red Envelopes, filled with gifts, are presented to family and friends during the Chinese New Year. The color red symbolizes good luck and PF Chang’s Home Menu’s wants to help you celebrate and share the good fortune.
There are a wide variety of P.F. Chang’s Home Menu noodles for you to enjoy! The flavors of Home Menu noodle entrees include Pepper Steak with Chow Fun Noodles, Grilled Chicken Teriyaki with Lo Mein Noodles, Garlic Chicken with Dan Dan Noodles, and Firecracker Shrimp with Yakisoba Noodles.

The Red Envelope Giveaway prizes will go to 15 our readers who nominate a dragon in their lives – someone who embodies characteristics like confidence, generosity, honesty etc. To enter, simply nominate your dragon (friend, spouse, family member) and tell what characteristic they portray.

He is always confident that things will work out, and because of his confidence, they always do.

I nominate my husband as the dragon. He is a hard worker, works long days and comes home full of energy.
Heather says
I would nominate my daughter, Megan. She is just 7 years old and in the 2nd grade, but has a strong spirit and stands up for others. At the beginning of the school year, she befriended a girl in her class. As their friendship grew, sadly, it became apparent that this girl was a victim of abuse. Megan had the courage to share with me some things this poor young girl had been through. Because of her, this girl was able to get help from the counselor and the intervention to free her from the horrible situation she had been living with. I am so proud of my daughter for being honest and doing what was right in the midst of a very difficult set of circumstances. She is a Dragon in my eyes!
Amanda Titus says
My daughter brought home the Chinese zodiac from her kindergarten class, so we read all the animals and descriptions. We determined which member of our family was what animal and read the characteristics, hysterically laughing and agreeing with each animal’s ‘qualities’. What a fun way to celebrate Chinese New Year!
Kathy Stevenson says
I nominate my husband for his generosity and hard work. He works a full time job and farms so that I can stay home with our girls!
Erin says
I nominate my husband, because he saved two lives this year! He single-handedly saved two people at once from drowning at our local forest preserve. One had submerged underwater, and he found her and pulled her up. Her companion was struggling and he pulled both of the to shore. They were both bigger than him–I’m not sure how he did it, but he did! He received no recognition, no thanks, but never asked for any. He said just knowing he helped was plenty. Lost his cell phone in the process. The paramedics came and took the survivors away, I went home with my hero!
Jeff says
My Dragon is my wife. She is the most generous person I know she is so selfless. Will do anything for anyone else before she will do something for herself. She stands by me no matter what and believe me I have done some stupid things.

The Dragon in my life is my husband. He is a dedicated husband and father and works tirelessly 6 days a week without ever complaining.
Shari says
My dragon is my friend C, who was also my main professor in college. She is unfailingly generous — yes, with gifts and such, but most of all with herself. She’s *always* been there with a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. And what an encourager! There’s apparently nothing she thinks I can’t do, and she always does an amazing job making me believe in myself, too. She’s so positive, always with a ready smile. My life would be immeasurably lacking without her in it.
Bonus — she was the one who first introduced me to Chinese food! 😉
Natalia says
I nominate my MOM- she is the real Dragon, born on October 7, 1952. She is the most tough dragon of all dragons I know! She is very persistent in her carier, family life, hobby etc. She has a LOT of friends who admire her because she is REAL friend who is with you through good and bad times. She could do you happy just because she is next to you! She is also great artist(I just bragg a bit) who create beautiful pictures. Do you still doubting she is the real Dragon?!
Liz says
I nominate my mom. 2011 was a really rough year for our family. My dad spent several weeks in the hospital and my mom was tough through all of it. She maintained a happy face for her grandchildren (and me–who was pregnant while all of this was going on.)
Kathi Lake says
I nominate my darling daughter – Caitlin. Caitlin was born on February 29th, 2000, and has been a dragon since day 1! She is a fierce fighter for what she believes in. This is a girl that does not take the words “Because I said so” very well. She is independent, opinionated, and very driven. When she was told that she could only take one musical lesson, she chose piano, but then went onto teaching herself (with the help of her brother and YouTube) guitar.
Her brother, of course, is a dog, and when they get together, the fur does fly. Of course, as they are busy annoying each other, I often notice that they are smiling as if they enjoy the conflict. Sigh. 🙂
Celeste says
My husband is my dragon–no contest. We have five children under six years old and are pregnant with #6, and he has welcomed each one with excitement and confidence, fully supporting me–whether in the delivery room at the hospital, or in a hotel room in Guatemala City. (We have a mixture of adopted and biological children.) He is completely generous in giving his time to me, the children, and his job, and he supports us all–financially and emotionally–so well. When he gets home from work, I have that wonderful feeling of being “off,” because he completely takes over with the little ones and leaves me to my own devices, whether that is the dinner dishes, a hot shower, a long run, or a nap. Last year, I decided to run a marathon just after baby #5 was born, and he was my biggest cheerleader, making sure I had the time I needed to train. Truly, I am blessed to have a dragon as my life partner!
Stefanie says
I was day dreaming of PF Changs’ crab rangoon the other day…so good! I nominate my BFF Sidra because she is the most amazing friend. 2012 is off to a rough start for me health-wise and she has been my rock, visiting me every single day I was recovering in the hospital, bringing me anything I want or need, getting me out of the house if only to go for a ride. I love her dearly & am blessed to call her my BFF.
Michelle says
Oh how fun! I love PF Changs.
I would nominate my friend Maria as a dragon. She is generous to a fault – if there is anything you need, you hardly need to ask her before she’s already delivered it to you, whether it’s helping pick up a child or borrowing some vitamins you forgot to buy or taking you out for dinner because you don’t feel like cooking or offering advice on special needs/dietary restrictions – something she’s an expert at dealing with. She’s so incredibly strong, and it’s amazing what she’s done for her children to bring them where they are today. She’ll fight for what she needs to but definitely isn’t aggressive for no reason – the perfect mama bear… or is that mama dragon?
