Tackle It Tuesday – Surviving Thanksgiving Week

Tackle It Tuesday

A few weeks ago, I wrote about how to have your best Thanksgiving ever. I was ready. Pumped. Excited to be heading into the holiday season again.

“Where did the time go?”

Now I find myself staring at the calendar in horror. How could Thanksgiving be a mere 2 days away? Not only am I hosting yet another Thanksgiving dinner at my house (with all the trimmings, of course), but somehow I was the lucky host of book club this month – on Monday night.

Monday afternoon I headed to the grocery store when I really needed to be cleaning my house and baking treats for book club. Luckily, I went to the store with a list and thank goodness I cook the same things year after year for Thanksgiving dinner. I know exactly what I need at the store.

My house may not be beautifully decorated for Thanksgiving, I *may* have stuffed extra toys and unfolded laundry into the storage room to hide some of my mess before all of my guests showed up for book club, and I may not have my blog posts scheduled ahead so that I can take some time off for the holiday later this week.

Focusing on what’s important

But I have a refrigerator full of food for Thanksgiving, recipes are out, and the menu is decided. Last night’s Pumpkin Pudding Cake was a hit (and the house smelled wonderful when my guests arrived). I spent quality time with my friends, discussing a great book (Bel Canto) and my kids were good sports about letting a bunch of women act like kids as we giggled and chatted the night away.

And most of all? I am thankful. Thankful that I am surrounded by friends and family this week, that we have an abundance of good food, and that I have work to keep me busy. It reminds me that I have a job. And those are greater blessings than I could ever hope for.

So despite the stress of tackling so much this week, I have decided to simply enjoy this week of Thanksgiving.

Be thankful.

I worked on Saturday to finish my Thanksgiving post by yesterday. Not easy with the help of my three-year old. Hopefully my comments will help some other moms with Thanksgiving prep.
My fridge and clothes are clean. Just one night of packing and headed to my folks for T-day.

Hey there! Do you know if they make any plugins to assist with Search Engine Optimization? I’m trying to get my blog to rank for some targeted keywords but I’m not seeing very good success. If you know of any please share. Thank you!
