Thank you for bringing awareness to this. A good friend of mine has a little girl battling cancer at the moment. You're right, it doesn't happen to 'other people'. It can happen to anyone.

I am a 50 year-old mom of five, and grandmother of one. Why is that notable? Because when I was a baby my mother had to hand me over to a blood specialist who told her:"I don't know whether I can return your little girl to you alive."

In those days parents were not allowed to stay with their children in hospitals. I became a guinea pig but was saved. There were many hospital stays over the following years so I know about pain and loneliness, and above all - hope and brighter days.

God bless your brave children and their brave families.

Leukemia has found it's way into my family's life as well. Z was diagnosed two years ago, received a bone marrow transplant and is now in remission. I wrote about her struggle in my post at http://www.laughfriendly.com/blaph.

Keep up the fight. We'll keep up the prayers, as well as raising funds for research. Be blessed.
