Tackle It Tuesday #118

by Carolyn

Hi-ya ladies!

I hope you are all doing well.

I have a little announcement to make :o )

We here at 5 Minutes for Mom for Tackle It Tuesday are going to have Guest Tacklers every other week… Yes… that means we would like to feature YOU my wonderful tackling friends!

I think this will be a beautiful way to get to know each other better and get a little “linky love” out to everyone that participates in this Meme!

I am really looking forward to this…. so keep a look out and be ready to encourage next week’s Featured Tackler here on 5 Minutes For Mom.

If this is something you would be interested in doing for any given week please email me at Tackle It Tuesday at gmail dot com (no spaces).

Now on to MY tackle this week :o )!

The biggest part of my tackle is unseen (I did not take pictures of it, I am sure they would not have been pretty! lol)… I finally made it to a regular doctor’s appointment like my counselor suggested a month ago. No, not another appointment to my OB-GYN because I keep having babies, an appointment just for ME!

My friend had to pack me and my 3 kids up in her little car to get us there because I do not have a car during the day and I already canceled one appointment. This is a really big thing considering I haven’t had a physical in about 3 years!

If you could pray for me I would appreciate it, because now I officially have someone (a doctor) telling me I am depressed and I need to do something about it…

I will now be going in for blood tests, in to see a Psychiatrist, in for x-rays and physical therapy for my shoulders (they freeze up at night), she also told me to see my counselor once a week, she told me to stop forgetting to eat, she told me to join a gym to kill three birds with one stone, exercise, get a babysitter and have alone time!

But on top of actually making it to this appointment I tackled being in my kitchen like my Pastor’s wife suggested… I haven’t mopped my floor in there in who knows how long and I have issues cooking for my family every night, so I tackled that on top of making sure all my dishes were done, and all the ants were killed (don’t ask)… here’s a peek…

I feel much better just TRYING to get all of this done, thank you ladies for being here to listen.

PS….. I shared the recipe here for those of you that asked :o )

What are you tackling? Link up and let us know!

Wow! Good for you for making all those doctors’s appointments. That is something I loathe, so more power to you! And the kitchen and the dinner look great! I know what you mean about cooking every night. It gets old!

No tackle, other than to wrestle the boys daily, but I wanted to give you a hug of support for keeping that appointment. Take care of yourself.

Good for you to take the time to look out for yourself! And great job on the kitchen and dinner – I so need to sweep and mop my floor today too. :)

The kitchen and the food look wonderful! But most important was the Dr. appointment – good job for getting it done. And remember that people are praying for you!

I know how hard it is not to have a car during the day, we went through that for a long time. I’m glad you went to the doctor. :) I’ll be praying and in the meantime, you keep your chin up. It’ll be a rough road, but you can do it (I feel like Bob the Builder!) LOL

Great tackle!

Good for you, Carolyn! One thing I’m horrible about is getting to the dentist. I really need to do that for myself…
Your caserole looks scrumptious! :)

Your dish looks great. Also congrats on “tackling” your depression. That’s admirable.

This week, I’m doing by last preschool prep “tackle” – easing my mind about my kid’s safety away from home.

I don’t have a tackle for today… I need to get back into that. But congrats on getting back to the doctor. Let’s hope that you are now on a path to healing?

Way to go on doing the kitchen floor! (maybe I should make that my tackle for next week?) As for dinner, I have a suggestion… use your crock pot! Seriously, it has been a life saver for me! Even though I’m home all day & don’t do a lot, I still hated standing in our tiny hot kitchen every night. Now, I just get up in the morning & trow stuff in the crock pot & voila! And we’ve all been eating healthier, too.

Hope you have a great week!

Great idea to tackle the kitchen as we spend so much time there. I put off going to the doctor too. Glad you are getting some help.

We tackled starting school this week.

Taking care of yourself is so important. Why do we, as moms, always forget to do that?

I’m so proud of you! I have a friend who has gone through the same thing as you and believe me when I say that going in the morning to work out has helped her so much. Being a mom is a tough and loving job! Now that school has started, you have inspired me to tackle the little jobs I have going on in my house. Thank you!

Good for you for getting the help you need. Depression is nothing to be embarrassed about. It would be like ignoring a broken leg. That would just be silly. So Do well and get the intervention you need. I need to mop also. My life has improved so much as the medication I am on has been in me for several months now. Your floor looks great. So does your heart:)

It’s amazing how much better you feel when you accomplish something. Sometimes I will have things on my To Do List for a month – and when I finally accomplish it – I feel like a million bucks!

It is best to take care of yourself so you can be the best for your family. Depression is just like having a disease like Diabetes. It can be treated and life can feel so good again. Way to go for getting this looked at and dealing with all the things in your life.

Remember to always take care of yourself first–”Put on your oxygen mask before placing it on your child.” Spending time in a clean kitchen with the smell of yummy food cooking will always lift your spirits. Sometimes it’s the little things…

Well it looks like you’re doing pretty well to me. My mother has long suffered from depression but she’s only just got around to seeing the doctor, examining her options and started taking medication.

To be honest, it’s like night and day.

I only wish she had done this at LEAST 60 years ago and oh how different her life might have been.

Very best wishes

You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Good job making an appointment and going to the doctor. It took me a long time, too, and I would not have gone had I not gotten pregnant last year.

You can add another bird to your ‘killing with one stone list.’ Exercise is known to help fight feelings of depression, since it releases those wonderful little endorphins which give feelings of well-being. Git-er-done!

I didn’t read your post until after I had already done mine and linked up. I feel for you. I’ve been where you are and it is an accomplishment just to get dinner on the table. after spending 3 years fumbling in dinner I cooked today (and for the past 2 WEEKS STRAIGHT NOW!!) too! I will pray for you and I am glad you are getting some help. I’ve been there too.

My first time on your site and all I have to say is: When are you coming over to my house? LOL I wish I had before and after pics from our recent fruit fly infestation and subsequent elimination operation. It is a sheer miracle that we were ever able to get rid of them. I had to write an entire entry just about that one. GROSS! Maybe I’ll just tackle the toilets and call it good.

Anyway, glad I discovered your site. I’ll be back for more tales and encouragement to tackle it!

Hugs to you, glad you made it to that appt, we have to take care of ourselves to be good caregivers, right? I tackled cleaning out the inside of my car, which my husband told me looked like a band of gypsies was living inside! It looks much better now…I hope to keep it that way!

That kitchen floor always seems to be put off doesn’t it? It’s like that here, too! It sounds like you’re on the right track of taking care of yourself FIRST. It’s often a hard thing to do (or even admit) as busy moms. Hugs to you! Today I tackled my sanity, so I could get my thoughts all straightened out and get back on track.

Yummy recipe. I’ll have to try that.

And I think your counselor had great advice about going to the gym. Exercise & alone time can work wonders. I need to do more of that myself. :)

hello Carolyn,
I’m not a tackler (yet), well, not in this sense anyway. I do check out your column often though. I’m not sure what is more inspiring – what you do, that you take pics, or that you’re so honest in your posts! i have a blog entirely dedicated to the depressed mommy (i’ve been one for 8 years, and depressed woman on an off my entire adult life.) and I’m not sure how to balance that level of honesty.

I hope you can stop by my blog. I love to post stuff that helps me, encouragements to other moms, and things that make me laugh. :)

blessings!

Well, it’s not yet Tuesday but to kick-off the new month I blogged about Tackling my Petulance/ Irritability. A lot might be experiencing the same and it would be great that everyone would try visit out my blog to get their personal Hormonal Health Profile which I think is very helpful in dealing with this kinda feeling.

Cheers! and keep on tackling!
