Organize Your Life This New Year With AboutOne – Giveaway

Oh if you could only see my desk. There are papers everywhere. I have post-it notes strewn about filled with important upcoming dates. I have a folder filled with artwork that my kids have made for me that is just too adorable to throw away. I have pictures, medical forms, insurance papers and bills in stacks. It’s a mess.

One of my New Year’s goals is to get myself better organized and I have found a tool that will help me with just that –

Created by Joanne Lang, mom of 4 young boys, is a secure online service that makes it easier for moms to manage family life by providing one convenient location to quickly and easily store and manage family memories (text, photos and videos) and household information (health, possession, and education records, contacts and more) and providing the ability to access this data, at home or away, with a computer, cell phone, or other web-enabled device.

AboutOne is much more than just a digital filing cabinet. It was designed to save you time through fast and easy data entry with your phone, a scanner, or computer. It also makes your information useful on a daily basis with time saving features like automatically created family newsletters (including text, video, and artwork) and caregiver instructions, paper greeting cards that mail themselves, and more. There’s no need to enter history. You just open your account and enter info as life happens – document your baby’s first steps, scan a household receipt, record an idea in your gift log. Plus, AboutOne serves as your organizational GPS, guiding you along the path to organization with advice and suggestions.

With AboutOne, you’ll also have the information you need, right at your fingertips, to make informed decisions and respond quickly to a medical or other emergency. It’s easy and fun!

What I Love About AboutOne

I created an AboutOne account and gave it a whirl. I instantly fell in love. Here’s why…..

You can set up a file for each family member, uploading or scanning in any mementos you would like, from artwork to awards. You can scan in important documents that you don’t want to lose, like receipts and medical forms. Yes, pretty much all of the things currently filling up my desk.

You can also create files for friends, where you can keep track of their contact information and even add to a gift log in preparation for holidays, birthdays and anniversaries, which AboutOne will also remember for you. The system generates alerts and reminders about appointments, birthdays, and anniversaries – including suggested gifts from the gift logs, and reminders of other important details.

As you add in milestones, memories and photos, AboutOne puts them together and will create a monthly newsletter that can then be emailed out to your contacts. With all of my family living out of state, I absolutely LOVE this feature!

Information can be added as you have time and can also be sent to your account from anywhere.

If I take a photo of my daughter at her school play with my cell phone, I can email it to my AboutOne account where it will be stored, ready for its inclusion in an upcoming newsletter or hardcover photo memory book.

Yes, AboutOne can automatically create a hardcover photo memory book including user selected photos, fact and memories from AboutOne (other photobook sites include photo captions only). The system also makes it easy to create greeting cards that mail themselves.

I also love the printables section, which not only includes the newsletter, but also gives options for a caregiver report, volunteer activity sheet, education history and a capital gains form.

Wow. With 3 kids all going in different directions with their activities this would be a great way for my husband and I to communicate about what activites happen when. Also, since we don’t live anywhere near any of our family, this would be a great tool for keeping more in touch with the extended family and friends about what is going on with us and the kids.

I think this would be so great because I love the idea on having everything in hand for my daughters. I am already so angry at myself because I forgot to write down when my 6 month had rolled over so now I don’t have that info to put down for her. This seems like a great way to stay on top of stuff.

Wow! What an incredible service. I have 3 boys, 2 businesses, and several projects I am always involved in. As soon as I clear my desk, I feel like it gets buried underneath a new pile of paper.
I can’t wait to sign up for the trial and begin simplifying my life. Winning would make a great service even better.

I have been thinking about the neat desk infomercials but the price seemed rather steep for a housewife’s attempt at organization. This is much more reasonable. Thanks for sharing.

I read about this before the holidays and thought I really need to look in to it more, then of course in the chaos of the end of the year I forgot about it.

My son has special needs and an IEP, and I think this would be especially helpful keeping all of his information, reports, etc in one place and easily accessible.

  12. Sara Christopherson says

This is DEFINITELY what we need in this house. My husband is a “paper hound” and I am not much better. We can never find what we need…with a 12 week old at home, and both of us going to school to get masters degrees!

  13. Suzanne Greiner says

A new mother of 3 kids, I waste more time finding the important papers than having fun with the kids. This would be an awesome thing to win!

  14. Jill says

I am hoping something like this will help me better manage the documents from my parents and grandmother who live in another state. I am the power of attorney, medical and legal, for all of them and it is hard to keep all things together.
