Tackle it Tuesday — Goodbye Excess!
![]() |
Since Susan and I are scrambling to get ready for The Ultimate Blog Party 2008, (it starts this Friday!) Jennifer is filling in as the resident “tackler” this week. Thanks Jennifer!
My closets are bulging, overflowing, piled up with too much stuff. So, I tackled several of them and got rid of some stuff, so that I could make room to store everything where it should be.
I started with our upstairs hall closet. It’s a great closet with lots of shelves. We use the shelves for games and toys. However, the bottom of the closet was full with sheets, blankets and who knows what. I emptied everything out and got rid of most of it (I mean, I don’t really need crib sheets anymore since I don’t have a crib).
I have a nice-sized linen closet in my bathroom. I use the shelves for towels and other things that belong there, but once again, the bottom of the closet was stuffed with bags and old towels and rags and all sorts of stuff, so I took everything out.
I still didn’t have room to store everything that had been in that hall closet, so that led me to my cedar chest. It was full of sheets and blankets, so again I took everything out. I’m not sure that I put anything back in! I might have put everything into the giveaway pile.
I loaded everything into my SUV, and yesterday I took it to Goodwill (along with dropping off some recycling tucked there in the back).
That’s it. No pretty before and after pictures, because hauling away several unused sets of sheets, towels, and blankets is my success story!
I reclaimed my closets and put everything where it should go.
What are you tackling this week?

Last week I tackled my bedside table. This week, the linen closet in the hallway! I am in for some work!
And today we’re taking a big load to the Goodwill. It always feels good to do that.
I need to take advantage of the Tackles to get some stuff done. Thanks for hosting!

I love this meme, it’s a great motivator! I just posted my 2nd tackle-the laundry room.
I tackled two memes this week. I need to tackle my closets sometime too.
I may not get it all done today but it will be a great beginning!
What a great feeling it is to drive away from Goodwill, minus a few dozen bags of stuff. lol I need to start doing that, too, one of these days. Amazing how quickly stuff accumulates!
I’m tackling a long unfinished sewing project that will clear a bit of space once it’s done. ;o)
Ooo! A closet tackle!! That is something I need to do.
Blessings, Beckie :O)
I know what you mean about closets. They can get might packed right quick! Finally got rid of some stuff out of one of mine today too.
oops, what happened to Mr. Linky???
Closet cleaning: it never ends, does it?
Love having to have something each week to tackle and write about!! Makes a great motivator!!
I planned our romantic weekend getaway and booked our vacation for the end of March.
Can’t wait to go now!
I need to tackle my kids’ closets!
Yay! I tackled our kitchen catch-all.
I’m thinking of doing some purging.
We did a dusty projected
I tackled my digital photos. I edited them with the free software I posted about on my blog. I backed them up and then took advantage of free print offers. I posted about those on my site as well.
Thanks for making me finally tackle this project!

It’s not exciting or glamorous, but it’s a huge sanity saver. This week I Tackled the monthly budget.
I need to do the same thing all around the home.
Hooray! It always feels good to purge and donate!
Still sewing… will it ever end?!?!
Thanks for hosting this. I was participating regularly, oh, I don’t know, maybe a YEAR ago and for some reason stopped. Life tends to tackle me sometimes. But I’m back and I got my tiny kitchen counter cleaned off today. It really helps me to know that I don’t have to do EVERY single pile in my house, just one tiny counter (piled high, mind you). Sure helped me today! Thanks.
I need to tackle all the excess too! Actually, I started a while ago and have accumulated some boxes of give aways but I still have so much more to go.
Great Tackle!
A friend from Homeschool Lounge directed me here. I love the Tackle it Tuesday idea. I’m going to try to use it every week on my blog. Today I did some notecards I’ve been wanting to make but have put off.
Thanks for the motivation!
YaaaYYY!!! Hubby cleaned the dust bunny shelves. Son cleaned his room and I got through two boxes of “stuff” – recycled a whole HUGE box of paper, and cleaned the bathrooms! I taught my son how to clean his sionks, and only ruined 1 towel in the process…LOL!
I am officially hooked on Tackle It Tuesday
