My favorite book was The Innocent Man. I love John Grisham and James Patterson, although with a little one and teaching full time I do not get to read as much as I would love to.

I am a fantasy-ahalic I love fantasy stories that take you into a whole world other then the one we know. I love the Narnia Books they are great.

Most fun fiction; it’s kind of embarrasing because I borrowed the books from my 15 year old neice and I’m 34, but the Twilight series! I couldn’t put them down. I felt like I was in high school again, neglected my homemaking duties, and enjoyed myself for several days.

I tried a new genre this year, on the request of a student of mine. Science fiction for young adults. Gregor the Overlander (5 books in the series) by Suzanne Collins. My favorite is still James Patterson, though.

The Kite Runner – I love reading out of my comfort zone occasionally and found this one riveting. I couldn’t put it down!

Until this week, I would have said “A Spot of Bother” by Mark Haddon was my favorite book of 2007. But then I finished “The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak, and it just bowled me over.

I have tried a lot of new authors this year; Haddon and Zusak were two of them. The rest of my reading list is on my Web site, if you’re interested.

The best book I read this year was “The Egyptologist” by Arthur Phillips. It has suspense, mystery, and a chilling ending that will haunt the reader after finishing the book.

A new author for me this year was definitely Mavis Gallant. Her short stories are extremely good, especially “Mlle. Dias de Corta.”
