Tackle It Tuesday - Paper Chaos!

Remember when mail was exciting?

I don’t want to be a grown up anymore. I don’t want the mail carrier to drop off bills, bank statements and junk mail that quickly cover my counter and kitchen table and inevitably turn into huge piles of procrastination. I don’t want to have to file, sort and organize. And I certainly don’t want to pay the bills!

I want to be a kid again, when mail was exciting and elusive, when all the envelope could hold was a birthday invitation or a card from Grandma. I want someone else to open the “boring” mail and pay the bills.

But since I am a grown up and no one is going to suddenly appear, offering to open all my mail and pay my bills, tackle it I must!

I had let the piles grow and grow - the mess on my kitchen table of filing and organizing was totally overwhelming yet again. But yesterday, with Olivia sleeping happily in her MetroWrap, I tackled it - and won!

My table is now clear. The papers filed. The clutter cleared.

Wow - that feels better. (But I think I still wouldn’t mind being a kid again - at least when the mail arrives.)

I am so sorry I have no photos to show off my tackle. The camera was at Susan’s house. (We share a Nikon D70.) But let me tell you - the table was a disaster zone with nowhere to eat. Now, while it is still my “office” with my lap top and some papers, the rest is open and ready to quickly transform into a dining area.

I tackled the master bedroom closet this week. I think it has been a year since I completely cleaned and organized it. It is now organized by style of clothing (dress blouses, collarless shirts, etc..) and they are now hung by color. My husband commented that it looks like a mini retail store. I’ll take that as a compliment!

I want to be a kid again, too!! At least long enough to get out of paperwork duty!! :)

Alas, like you said, nobody else is going to do it. :P

At least it feels good after it’s over and done with right??

Darn that mail! As soon as you clear it away, more arrives.

I can so relate ;( Junk mail is the scourge.
Be sure to remove and thing with your name and address and destroy it or put it with your wet trash. Your identity is your most prized possession.
Thank you for Hosting and motivating us toward excellence. I do hope babies and mommies are doing better.

I tackled organizing my daughter’s clothing this week… putting the too small sizes away in a large tupperware storage container and bringing her winter clothes out from deep in the closet. It’s so nice to have taken an inventory on what outfits she has to wear, and arranging them by size helps me know what she has to grow into!

I thought getting a computer would cut down on paper clutter. Mmm, right!!!
I decluttered a corner of my dinning area. Lot of stuff went in garbage.

#16 - Sasha @ 11:33 pm

I need to do that too. I get so much junk mail and catalogs and other junk. I hate it.

I miss when mail was fun.

What are the odds that paper was the same thing I tackled. Now I just have to consistently (that means as it comes in) tackle it so that the stacks don’t keep eating the things that are important to me.
