Tackle It Tuesday – Jack the Fish

The poor fish…

Little Olivia has her first cold. She has had it for awhile now, but tonight she was especially stuffy. So while she had a steam in the bathroom, I tackled cleaning “Jack the Fish’s” tank.

A few weeks ago, we left Jackson’s beta fish, “Jack,” at Susan’s house for her to look after while we went away. However, once we returned we neglected to pick up Jack the Fish. So the poor fish has languished away at Susan’s without a water change. (Not only did Susan not have his water conditioner, but I am sure she would have told me to come over and get our fish if I suggested she clean his bowl for me!)

So tonight Jack finally got his water changed and his bowl cleaned and he returned to Jackson’s room.

Here is his bowl before. You can see Jack was in dire straits with half of his water evaporated, not to mention that what was left was very dirty. Good thing beta fish are hardy little things.

And here is Jack’s bowl after. The only problem is his light bulb burned out while he was at Susan’s and I don’t have any extras right now. So I still need to buy a new one.

We tried to have a pet Beta once. His name was Blue & Hayden lost interest in him after about two days.

I remember cleaning the fish bowl…It would get so incredibly dirty so fast & smelly too. yuck! Good for you cleaning up his home! I’m sure he’s swimming a little more happily now. :]

We did look into Beta fish a few times, but you need to change their water so often so we settled for a goldfish instead. Jack must be swimming happier now. I tackled the land of books. Hope Olivia is feeling better.

Dear little Jack the Fish! I’m sure he’ll be just fine – from what I understand, beta fish live in the water of rice paddies in their natural habitat. Pretty slimy and shallow there, I’d guess.

But how is Olivia feeling? First colds look pitiful, but I’m sure she’ll be just fine in a few days too!

Hope Olivia gets to feeling better really soon! My son Jackson is only 3 months old and he got his first cold @ around two months..the poor thing was miserable….I know how little Olivia must be feeling.

    Prayers for renewed health! :-)

I can appreciate the cleaning of the betta bowl! I’ve owned 2 (the reason I haven’t gotten a third is because I’m a sap that cries when fish die).

Anywho… tackled the Christmas decorating this week! YAY!

Beta fish really are hearty fish. We had one that jumped out of his bowl and tried to kill himself. He was horribly disfigured afterward, but lived for over a year! I couldn’t believe he lived that long :) We even went out and bought another one in anticipation of his death. So, for awhile, we had 2 Beta’s.
