A Sweet Treat and a Chance to Win $500…

by Janice

UPDATED – please scroll to the end of the post to read the changes – and we will have 30 winners instead of 20!!!

We interrupt our Mother’s Day Giveaway contest for a yummy snack and a tip on where you can enter to win $500…

As some of you may have already noticed, General Mills has a fun, tasty, new cereal lining grocery aisles and making your kids drool – new Fruity Cheerios.

Personally, I am a fan of Cheerios. I remember Jackson cramming fist-fulls of those little oat rings into his tiny eighteen-month-old mouth. And how often did I pack a little container of Cheerios to occupy my squirmy toddler as I raced through errands or tried to get him to sit still in church? Yes, Cheerios are a staple in our cupboard!

Fruity-Cheerios-image-web.jpgSo you can imagine my son’s delight when a box of Fruity Cheerios arrived in his kitchen! While I am very conservative about allowing “sugar cereals” in my house, Fruity Cheerios combines whole grains and 100 percent real fruit juice for a cereal that has 25 percent less sugar than the leading fruit-flavored cereal. So for a fun treat – this is a good way to go.

And of course I just had to let you know about how you could win $500! Fruity Cheerios and Modern Mom are co-sponsoring a nation-wide contest for families. All you need to do is submit your Fruity Cheerios-themed pictures or videos for a chance to win. You can read all about it at Modern Mom.

AND for you, our 5 Minutes for Mom readers, we have twenty boxes of Fruity Cheerios waiting! So to spread the sweetness, we will give one box to twenty different winners. Just leave your comment at this post and we will draw TWENTY winners on Tuesday, May 15th. (Open to Canadians!)

UPDATE: I forgot to mention that the Modern Mom contest ends May 18th. So, we will draw our winners Saturday to give you enough time to get your shipping info to me. (I will be closing the entries at 12am Eastern tonight.) I need to forward your information to the company by Sunday night so they can overnight your cereal to you on Monday. That will give you a few days to get your entry in to Modern Mom’s big contest. AND – we now have an additional 10 boxes – so THIRTY of you will be getting cereal next week. Just please make sure to check on Saturday to see if you won and get your shipping info to me by Sunday night. Thanks and I hope you enjoy your Fruity Cheerios. :)

This contest is now CLOSED. To see a list of the winners click here.

FUN! I usually avoid the cereal aisle like the plague when I’m shopping with the girls :) – I’ll have to check these out. Yogurt cheerios are my girls fav right now – who know, perhaps we’ll have another option soon!! Sign me up!

Mmmmm, fruity cheerios?! That sounds great. Our son has enjoyed their multigrain cheerios but I’m sure this will be an even bigger hit for him!

When I was potty training my boys, one of our tricks was to try to “hit” a Cheerio in the toilet…the perfect floating bullseye, lol. If they had been colorful, the “training” might’ve gone more quickly :) .

Haven’t seen these on our cereal aisle yet; but we’ll definitely try them! Especially if I’m a lucky 20 ;) .

My Princess and Honey love the Fruity Cheerios, and although they have more sugar than the plain old Cheerios the fruity ones have LESS sugar than the Honey Nut variety!

We have discovered that Fruity Cheerios, a delicacy that he doesn’t get at home, is the only way that our two year old will stay in the church nursery on Sunday morning. Because that’s what they serve.

So, count me in.

OH What a great snack this would be! Especially over the OTHER fruity ringed-cereal (I won’t name that loopy cereal that my children LOVE to snack on). It will be nice for them to have something less sugary.

In the words of my Rachael Ray loving boys “Yumo!”. I have already been snapping for this contest.

My now 26 yo son won a Cheerios photo contest as a toddler. Wonder if history can repeat with new older boys and a new Cheerios? :)

I don´t live in Canada, but you can send them to my starving student sister who does! :D She goes days without eating and this would be the perfect way to get some nutrition into her! Long distance big sistering is hard to do, so I hope I win and can send her a box of cereal.
